it may be as little as overwriting bytes 510 and 511 of block0.
(the last 2 bytes of the block are a magic number)
this would stop the fdisk taster from recognising it as an fdisk
block and teh disklabel taster would recognise the disklabel.
if you try this, keep a backup of block0 :-)
