cpu cooler speed

I have a recent current running on amd64 asus laptop that is hell hot.
when in Windows, it spins faster than it is (is almost stopped) and is not
hot when not compiling.

is there anything I can do to better this ?

I made some changes to acpi_asus and it loads for my notebook, but even
though is still hot ...
