Yes.  Adding HDD (PATA or SATA) or even a second NIC on an ASUS P5K.

A new Power supply fixed those and other similar problems, but not before I had 
bought a GigaByte G33-DS3R replacement MB - and hit the same wall.

Though I have a dual-trace Fluke 'Scopemeter', the PSU was so cheap I never did 
check to see if it was voltage drop or just noise spiking.

Not to say this applies in your case, just that it is reasonably easy to check.
