Aftering updating from Dec 2 src, buildworld bombs with free() error on Dec 8

I also see make crashing  with a free error, on my current box : I first 
thought it was a pilot error, then I was sidetracked and I did not take time 
to investigate.

I last upgraded the box around 01/12
