noise) with sources from 18 Mar. I'm using modules; the mobo is a
GA-VT600 / 8237 (VIA), on-board sound.

The change must have happen between 2004_03_04 and 2004_03_18.
The only sound change *I* could find running ident:
-/boot/kernel.old/snd_via8233.ko:
- $FreeBSD: src/sys/dev/sound/pci/via8233.c,v 1.13 2003/09/02 17:30:37 jhb Exp $
+/boot/kernel/snd_via8233.ko:
+ $FreeBSD: src/sys/dev/sound/pci/via8233.c,v 1.15 2004/03/17 17:50:44 njl Exp $
Booting with the old kernel it works. kldload-ing the old modules it doesn't
The new kernel doesn't have radeondrm; both are with apic; booting with acpi.
If I can help with anything else, please let me know.
Thanks,.
