After upgrading to the perl58 port, you should be able to just run: use.perl
port
This should append 5.8.2 bits to the bottom of your make.conf as well as
create any links that may be necessary.

Subject: Updating perl

I updated perl from ports as /usr/ports/UPDATING told and have now perl
5.8.2. Should i just change /etc/make.conf perl version numbers to 5.8.2 or
do i also need to change something else? My FreeBSD version is
5.2.1-RELEASE-p1 i386.
