I'd guess that it's using the "no emulation" or "native" boot method, 
where the boot descriptor points to code that gets loaded and executed 
directly, instead of having an emulated floppy or HD image.

No idea really; you can certainly extract the boot code from the CD, 
but you'd have to figure out what the boot code then does...
