Possible Weirdness with new DRI import?

I just cvsup'ed -current and (sorry for the other variable) XFree as well.  It
all works, but glxgears performance has dropped from >600fps to ~250fps. 
Platform is IBM Thinkpad T40 with Radeon 9000/32MB.
