fyi: I just found out (from Joe Landers at
news://news.vmware.com/vmware.guest.misc) that VMware can be made to 
work with -CURRENT by adding the following line to your FreeBSD config 
(*.vmx) file:

monitor_control.disable_apic=TRUE

It works very well!
