Overdone rescue cleaning as part of buildworld?

Just out of curiosity, I timed 'buildworld' to
see what impact /rescue really has.  These are
all approximate timings on my desktop machine:

without /rescue: 47:30
with original /rescue: 50:12
with optimized /rescue: 50:10
