"Computer Organization and Design" by Patterson and Hennessy
ISBN 1-55860-604-1

...is one I'm working through right now. Reasonably priced at ~$50 for 620 
pages and about half as many more on the CDROM.  As an added bonus you will 
learn Mips assembly.
