FreeBSD-related-announcements list?

   Just a wild idea here: It seems to me that there is a need for an 
announcements list for items related to, but not part of, the FreeBSD 
project.  Things like portupgrade, FreeBSD Update, freshports, and various 
BSDs based on FreeBSD (DragonFly, war, pico, mini, freesbie...) are all 
likely to be of interest to many FreeBSD users, but there isn't really any 
logical mailing list for announcements from such projects.
   Does anyone else feel this need?
