Further testing shows that any non-CD boot method (e.g. dd of
FreeBSD-11.0-CURRENT-amd64-20140714-r268622-mini-memstick.img or similar) to a
spare USB disk or SDXC card) freezes at exactly the same place, i.e. nothing to
do with installer itself, but the boot process.
