FreeBSD freeHugin.Walhalla.Leben 9.0-BETA3 FreeBSD 9.0-BETA3 #1: Sun Oct 2 17:17:40 CEST 2011 kalten at freeHugin.Walhalla.Leben:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/HUGIN amd64
>Description:
I used AHCI, i.e. the option ``device ahci'', in the kernel---so /dev/ada* for mounting.
When copying large files, there happen to be timeouts like:
---SCHNIPP---
ahcich2: Timeout on slot 18 port 0
ahcich2: is 00000000 cs 00040000 ss 00000000 rs 00040000 tfd c0 serr 00000000 cmd 0000d217
ahcich2: Timeout on slot 13 port 0
ahcich2: is 00000000 cs 00002000 ss 00000000 rs 00002000 tfd c0 serr 00000000 cmd 0000cd17
ahcich2: Timeout on slot 3 port 0
ahcich2: is 00000000 cs 00000008 ss 00000000 rs 00000008 tfd c0 serr 00000000 cmd 0000c317
ahcich2: Timeout on slot 11 port 0
ahcich2: is 00000000 cs 00000800 ss 00000000 rs 00000800 tfd c0 serr 00000000 cmd 0000cb17
---schnapp---
and the system becomes that slow, that starting an xterm takes up to e.g. one minute, and some ``ls'' about 40 seconds (the actual amount of time varies).
Some further information:
---SCHNIPP--- dmesg|grep -i ahci
ahci0: <Intel Cougar Point AHCI SATA controller> port 0xf070-0xf077,0xf060-0xf063,0xf050-0xf057,0xf040-0xf043,0xf020-0xf03f mem 0xfa305000-0xfa3057ff irq 20 at device 31.2 on pci0

ahcich0: <AHCI channel> at channel 0 on ahci0
ahcich1: <AHCI channel> at channel 1 on ahci0
ahcich2: <AHCI channel> at channel 4 on ahci0
ahcich3: <AHCI channel> at channel 5 on ahci0

It is an ``ASUS P8H67-M Rev.3.0 (New H67 B3 Revision)'' motherboard.
May be these information help.
