The sequence was this - I had a build from nov 1st that worked fine. around
nov 6, i built a new image which failed, but didn't have time to dig deeper.
on nov 24th I built again and this also failed. then, on the nov 24th
build i copied over hostapd from the nov 1st build and this got things
working for me again. this seems to point at the problem happening between
nov 1st & ~6th.
I also realized that I did not describe the environment - I am compiling on
an i386 system (under Vmware) and then assembling the binaries and compiling
a new kernel to build the image for an ALIX board using a Geode chip.
there was a significant update made to hostapd on nov 3rd, and i'm betting
whatever happened happened there.
from the -net mailing list, it sounds like Adrian Chadd and Rui had some
idea of what the problem might be here.

You claim the 24th but also the 3rd of november as installation point, whic=
h is it?

In addition; since head changes constantly, can you try a more recent snaps=
hot, this one is a week old and lots of commits had been made, we need to n=
arrow it down more.

1) Is it still in current?
2) if you downgrade to 2010-11-23 (assuming that the 24th was the right dat=
e), does it still occur? keep dropping the date till we can pinpoint the ex=
act date.
