 Are you  sure about process' name 'flowcontroller'?

 May be you mean 'flowcleaner'? If so it might be related to the issue
 discussed on freebsd-net@ in February (Subject: mpd has hung):

 You could try patches provided by Bjoern there to see if it helps.
