FreeBSD ascot.gladchenko.ru 7.1-PRERELEASE FreeBSD 7.1-PRERELEASE #4: Thu Oct 9 12:18:07 MSD 2008 root at example.net:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/ASCOT i386
>Description:
The PC has a GigaByte GA-G31M-S2L motherboard with Intel Pentium Dual-Core processor E5200 and 2GB RAM.

When a PS/2 mouse is plugged in and USB Mouse Support is Enabled in the BIOS Setup, on the start of the booting process I can see

..
real memory = 2136866816 (2037 MB)
avail memory = 2082840576 (1986 MB)
ACPI APIC Table: <GBT GBTUACPI>

then there's a pause for a couple of seconds and finally

AP #1 (PHY #1) failed!
panic y/n? [y]

Setting USB Mouse Support to Disabled or unplugging the PS/2 mouse helps.

Here is /var/run/dmesg.boot for the successful boot:
