Although the original submitter is no longer using FreeBSD, the Audit-Trail
notes that others are having similar problems, including on 6.2R.

Let's hope that the recent work scottl did addresses some of these problems;
however, for now, that code is only in -current.  Each of the people
responding may wish to check to see if it does.
