FreeBSD6-Beta1 network hung

I have been porting my nfs server to FreeBSD6-BETA1 (runs fine on FreeBSD5.4
with a single CPU), using a 2 CPU PentiumII (ASUS P2L97-DS mainboard that
uses an Intel440LX chipset), IDE drive and DEC Tulip 21x4x "de" net card.

I now have it working fine for a while (btw, the WITNESS and other SMP
diagnostics are great, good work gang:-), but then the network hangs.

The symtoms are:
- nfsd are just waiting for requests
- system is still up and working fine, except...
	- you can only "ping localhost" or "ping <IP# of machine>"
A ping out to any other machine or to it from any other machine
	fails.

Since the net interface isn't working, I'd suspect something in (or close
to) the net device driver.

Is there anything I can do to get more useful information on this (I have
KDB in the kernel)?

Also, which net cards are known to work well with FreeBSD6-Beta1?

Thanks in advance for any info, rick
ps: It could easily be my server, but the daemons are all just sleeping
    waiting for a packet, so??
