After 9 min and 37 seconds the machine will lock up solid and power button must be cycled to restart machine.

power off machine with out using proper shut down procedures - e.g. kill power with out using halt or reboot command -- restart machine, and allow fsck to process filesystems. problem re-occurs on each restart
