>Release: FreeBSD 5.2.1-RC i386
>Organization:
>Environment:
System: FreeBSD FreeBSD 5.2.1-RC i386
FreeBSD 5.2.1-RC i386
>Description:
FreeBSD 5.2.1-RC i386 installation floppies failed to load
following modules (it complains itself):
if_pcn
if_vr
if_ste
if_xl
if_ed
if_bge
if_re
if_wb
if_rl
if_sis
if_dc
if_bfe
if_aue
if_sf
and
if _fxp
So, to use other NIC from third floppy (drivers.flp), for example,
if_fi, then host name lookup is too fast (less than 0.1 second :-).
ti-based NICs usually take a few seconds to come up (link up).
Usually, host name lookup waits for quite long time, where 5.2.1-RC
installation seems do not wait. After configuring the NIC, then
do nslookup and immediately says:
"not able to resolve host name "
OK
It is not ok for anything now. Al least, here needs a retry button
to give another chance for resolving the name. If going back the
Menu to try again, the NIC is configured down and up, the same
problem will repeat again, so there is no way to install 5.2.1-RC.
>How-To-Repeat:
See Description.
>Fix:
Need to give a longer time for resolving host name;
or
Provide a retry button for redo host name lookup before
tear down the NIC configuration.
