On booting the 5.3 release CD the system hangs, then crashes on
probes of the SCSI devices. If the HP scanner is powered up it
hangs, then crashes there. If the Scanner is off it hangs and
crashes at either the SCSI CDROM or the SCSI HDD. System is
currently running BSD/OS 4.0Beta1 and has been stable since it was
installed many years ago.

Neither the 5.2.1 live CD or the 5.3 install CD seem to see the
WD8013 ethernet card in the system.

The SCSI controller is an AHA1542B.

>How-To-Repeat:
Try to install 5.3 on a system configured as mine (see dmesg output above).
>Fix:
I would be looking at kernel code and to see if there was some
strange interaction between the AHA SCSI subsystem and the
Western Digital network drivers. I suspect the WD not being seen
by the install kernel may have something to do with things. I know
there was an interaction problem with the WD driver and other things
in BSD/OS before I reported it.
