	Intel 82801 chipset
	Pentium IV 2400
	Intel ICH4 builti-in ATA100 controller
Maxtor 6E040L0 as master device on primary ATA bus
Samsung CD-ROM SC-152A on secondary ATA bus

>Description:
When the CD-ROM is set as master on its own bus (the factory
setting
on the PC I was installing) the kernel boot process stops after
detecting ad0 and acd0. From then on, a seemingly endless
sequence of

    acd0: MODE_SENSE_BIG command timeout - resetting
    ata1: resetting devices .. done

lines are displayed on the screen.

>How-To-Repeat:

>Fix:
Re-jumpering the CD-ROM to act as slave (instead of master)
solves the problem. This hint was found in a message from a
mailing
list, and not on PR kern/36610 (which was recently closed, but the
	promlem is not solved)
