The most recent kernel that I can get to boot is from
2003-11-21 midnight GMT. Later kernels the HHD stays on
solidly when the drive is probed - possibly when the kernel
tries to read data from the drive. See above boot message.
I believe this is due to the new interrupt routing code jhb
introduced around this time.
