 A workaround is available.  This drive has a tertiary IDE controller 
 that the CD-ROM sits on.  Moving the CD-ROM to the seconday controller 
 alleviates the panic.  At this point you can install the OS and boot 
 normally.  I haven't attempted to move the cd-rom back to the tertiary 
 controller after the installation.  I'll give that a shot next week.
