state of FreeBSD ARM (less stable than 6 months ago)

I've had r282694 crash twice today while trying to build gettext, doesn't
seem to be sd card related.
Is there a guide on how to set up dumping on a crash? I don't have a serial
cable for it and the keyboard stops working once it goes into kdb.
