I will try to build as a module and see what happens. I have run zfs
on root using the mfsbsd install images since 8.0 without any stability
problems.
I do not think we can yet run zfs on root with ARM, but I am not
certain as I am not really real up on how these boxes boot or if the
boot loader understands zfs. I guess we would have to chainload
something that could load the kernel from zfs.
