After fixing the early panic earlier today, I've found that with this diff applied (just to busdma_machdep.c, since there's no v6 in 9), I'm able to NFS boot

up to multi-user. That resolves my two issues with running 9 on the AT91SAM9G20 board I have...

Now to see if I can run on a USB root.

Did you want to do the honors of the MFC, or should I?
