Only thing that might be an issue here is they are out of date, but the

Thats fine.
Do you have the appropriate load module line in httpd.conf ?

Ah ha!  The problem!

You need to rebuild your httpd (www/apache22) and set WITH_SSL=yes
You are not linking against libssl.

        libssl.so.6 => /usr/lib/libssl.so.6 (0x800803000)
