Thanks, committed! -- Jun Kuriyama // FreeBSD Project // S2 Factory, Inc. From sbw at sbw.org Sun Apr 5 12:57:16 2009 From: sbw at sbw.org (Steve Williams) Date: Sun Apr 5 12:57:22 2009 Subject: mod_python "version mismatch" Message-ID: <200904051921.n35JLK662185@sbw.org> On Apache start/restart, this always appears in httpd-error.log: python_init: Python version mismatch, expected '2.5.2', found '2.5.4'. As far as I know, it doesn't hurt anything, but is this something that should be resolved? I did some googling. I didn't understand everything I read, but I believe the error is because I'm using: apache-2.2.11_3 Together with: mod_python-3.3.1_2 python25-2.5.4_1 The dependencies for mod_python-3.3.1_2 include apache-2.0.63_2. I assume that means mod_python-3.3.1_2 is set up for Apache 2.0, not 2.2, which appears to be the cause of the version mismatch in other *nix environments. Is there a way to resolve this? I think you installed (compiled) mod_python in time when you have python 2.5.2 installed and later you upgraded python to 2.5.4. If you want to fix it, just recompile (reinstall) mod_python and restart Apache. From pgollucci at p6m7g8.com Sun Apr 12 22:55:13 2009 From: pgollucci at p6m7g8.com (Philip M. Gollucci) Date: Sun Apr 12 23:22:11 2009 Subject: USE_APACHE Message-ID: <49E2D3C0.4050504@p6m7g8.com> http://people.freebsd.org/~pgollucci/deprecate.diff Theres 26 PRs(link below) + ~15 ports that do not yet confirm to this, but thats largely okay. In a bit (after the freeze) I'd like to make some changes to bsd.apache.mk and ports-mgmt/portlint to warn about the above changes. I think It might be good to consolidate 1.3 -> 13 and 2.0 -> 20 (both are supported right now) Next up, I'd like to make bsd.mp.mk which is for www/mod_perl* and will let me remove the WITH_APACHE and WITH_APACHE2 from ports that can use either. (USE_MP=13|20 and USE_APREQ=13|20) After that, I'd like to try a -exp run with APACHE_PORT=www/apache22 in bsd.apache.mk by default to see what needs fixing. I've already fixed a good bit. Looks like we'd be looking at ~1000 ports (before any of the fixes I already made). Afterwards, www/apache23, www/apache24, and devel/apr2. I think right about here, we can implement the long requested APPKGNAMEPREFIX. Which brings a good point to clean up bsd.apache.mk like I've been planning. Next up is the consolidation of the www/apache* ports into MASTER/SLAVE. Then, bsd.webserver.mk with I think should start with just support for www/apache*. zope, ngix, lighttpd, etc.. should be added next 1 at a time. That'll probably keep me/us busy for all of 2009. http://wiki.freebsd.org/Apache http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr-summary.cgi?category=ports&severity=&priority=&class=&state=&sort=none&text=apache%40&responsible=&multitext=&originator=&release= ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Philip M. I understand you position and I think your reasoning is good, but, in the other hand, you should also consider that FreeBSD is an widely used platform in production/enterprise environment. In my case (a hosting company) the present issue means a great problem: our automatizations scripts using 'apachectl graceful' a lot of times. This bug only has two possible ways: a solution or go back to 2.0.x branch. I repeat that I understand and respect your position (and work, of course!) > I have a few other tweaks to make I think and I'll bundle it with that > after the ports freeze ends. Ok. Finally I've done the following workaround: * localize the httpd-2.2.11.tar.bz2 in my /usr/ports/disfiles * untar it an localize de prefork.c file * create a http.patch file with the officinal code patch recommended and apply it in prefork.c * delete the original httpd-2.2.11.tar.bz2 * create a new httpd-2.2.11.tar.bz2 with the modified prefork.c included * recompile apache22 with portupgrade(1) using also the NO_CHEKSUM active to avoid the ports integrity checks And works fine.
