Tried the patch and it looks like things fail earlier.  I haven't been
able to make the time yet to build a kernel with debug and get you a
backtrace.  I will try to do so as soon as possible.

For me, I think it has to do with the second CPU settings as it works
when SMP is not enabled. This is what I see when things work:
