FBSD 4.9 on AlphaServer 1000a/400

Hi,
At the time, this didn't make a difference. The probably magically
cleared up with 5.1. I did post something on it to the FBSD mailing lists
sometime last spring, but nothing seemed to work. I believe that it was
4.7 that _did_ work, and somehow 4.8 broke it, but 5.1 was fine
again. Anyway, its water under the bridge.
