Precompiled binaries are available for the amd64 architecture on FreeBSD
versions 8.1, 8.2, and 9-CURRENT:
http://www.openafs.org/release/openafs-1.6.0pre2.html
I hope to have packages available for i386 for the final release as well,
but may not get around to pulling up those chroots for the release
candidate.
Note that if you wish to compile from source, there are two key patches on
top of the 1.6.0pre2 tarball for FreeBSD (already in git): AFS_64BIT_ENV
needs to be defined in the !KERNEL case in the appropriate param.foo.h
header, and for FreeBSD 8.2 and CURRENT, the global prtactive variable
(referenced in afs_vop_inactive) has been removed.
Please test and report any issues (though the disk-based cache will not be
fixed for the release).
