Message-ID: <20090106020932.GI24282@dixongroup.net> Time is getting short for registrations to DCBSDCon 2009. We have less than four weeks remaining before we formally close registrations. Don't miss out and lose your seat. Please note that the *hotel discount code* (details online) expires this Friday on January 9, 2009. DCBSDCon 2009 will be held February 5th and 6th at the Marriott Wardman in Washington, DC. We've been announcing speakers periodically over the last few weeks. Here are the ones we've discussed on the blog (http://blog.dcbsdcon.org/)... Marshall Kirk McKusick Henning Brauer Ted Unangst Brooks Davis Chris Buechler Marco Peereboom Kristaps Dzonsons Richard Bejtlich Kurt Miller We have a few more to announce over the next week. It looks like I might also be presenting an updated version of "BSD is Dying", so here's your chance to heckle me in person. Register online and get your barcode today. Don't forget that the group discount code for booking your room at the Marriott Wardman ends this week. http://www.dcbsdcon.org/register.html Hope to see you there! -- Jason Dixon DixonGroup Consulting http://www.dixongroup.net/ From gnemmi at gmail.com Fri Jan 9 11:35:57 2009 From: gnemmi at gmail.com (Gonzalo Nemmi) Date: Fri Jan 9 11:36:03 2009 Subject: questions on freebsdmall promo Items Message-ID: <200901090910.17785.gnemmi@gmail.com> Sorry if this is not the right list ... Should that be the case, please accept my apologies in advanced and, if you are kind enough, let me know which one is. Case is : is there a URL in which I can take a close look at the promo items offered at freebsdmall.com?? Pictures are always _too_ small and it really makes it hard to tell whether I want to lay down the cash on them or not. I understand that it may seem silly to some, but it means investing my hard earn money to me ... For instances .. take a look at the two FreeBSD Baseball Cap ... http://www.freebsdmall.com/cgi-bin/fm/bsdcapb?id=kAmknfu5&mv_pc=298 http://www.freebsdmall.com/cgi-bin/fm/bsdcap?id=kAmknfu5&mv_pc=295 I like the tan version better, but the black version seems to have a bigger and more colorful Beastie logo (let alone the manufacturing quality ... ) ... but to be honest, pictures are so small that it's really hard to tell whether i'm right or not .. and the same goes for the t-shirts :s Would it be to much to ask you to add larger, more _detailed_ pictures of the items on sale? Adding to that, will we be seeing some changes on the offered products? Like new or alternative (no need to get rid of the current ones) caps with the horny ball, new stickers, new books (i want to buy the lucas book, amongst others, _from_freebsdmall_ and not from amazon.) new or alternative (no need to get rid of the current ones) FreeBSD CD Cases? new or alternative or alternative (no need to get rid of the current ones) FreeBSD Plate Logos? metal capsulas for our notebooks or pcs, as in: http://www.freebsdnews.net/wp-content/themes/corporate/images/people.png http://www.kde-look.org/content/preview.php?preview=1&id=56075&file1=56075-1.png&file2=&file3=&name=Capsula_FreeBSD.1 http://www.kde-look.org/content/preview.php?preview=1&id=59820&file1=59820-1.jpg&file2=&file3=&name=Designed+for+FreeBSD++ Thanks for reading and, once again, sorry if this is the wrong list. I'm already a subscriber and I'm really satisfied with your services, but since I know that you guys donate back to the FreeBSD foundation I would pretty much like to spend more money on your products in a not so long period of time (like from 7.0 to 7.1) ... and to be honest, high quality pictures and some new items would really get me in the mood ;) Good to hear you guys are cooking something new .. hope to see it soon ! It will be preceded by two days of tutorials on 6-7 May. We are now accepting proposals for talks. The talks should be designed with a very strong technical content bias. Proposals of a business development or marketing nature are not appropriate for this venue. If you are doing something interesting with a BSD operating system, please submit a proposal. Whether you are developing a very complex system using BSD as the foundation, or helping others and have a story to tell about how BSD played a role, we want to hear about your experience. People using BSD as a platform for research are also encouraged to submit a proposal. Possible topics include: * How we manage a giant installation with respect to handling spam. * and/or sysadmin. * and/or networking. From the BSDCan website, the Archives section will allow you to review the wide variety of past BSDCan presentations as further examples. Both users and developers are encouraged to share their experiences. The RFP schedule is: 19 Dec 2008 Proposal acceptance begins 19 Jan 2009 Proposal acceptance ends 19 Feb 2009 Confirmation of accepted proposals We were late in sending out reminders, so we'll accept proposals past this deadline. Just submit. Thanks.
