my difficulty installing freebsd was after starting the installation and
then  learning freebsd must be installed in a primary partition.  with
very large disk drives i have many more than four partitions. modern
linux distributions may be installed in any primary OR extended
partition..     the grub  loader can now  begin the bootload from any
partion.  i do not understand if there is a reason for restricting
installation of freebsd to a primary partition. to me, this restriction
is a big negative point against freebsd.
