I have the same problem. (on the Maxselect GT3000)
And this solution help me. But my display don't wake up.
I've tried with reset_video and without, but have no results.
After my test i have in /var/log/messages:

Sometimes after resuming i can ping my notebook from the network.
I think resuming partially works.
