Lid switch not working after resume

Here it is again.

1) set the lid_switch sysctl=NONE so system doesn't suspend
2) open/close lid a few times, (only one message seems to show up in the dmesg 
though)
3) acpiconf -s 3
4) resume and I get bitten by the ATA bug so I couldn't do any lid switching 
on resume
Hope this is enough info.
