Ironically, Warner, you have managed to confuse  "baud rate" and
"bit rate" in a commit message about correcting the confusion
between "baud rate" and "bit rate."   You do, of course, mean:

"... default data rate is 9600 bps.  300 bps being default... "

Basically, the word "baud" should never appear in any text
relating to RS232 serial ports, unless you want to be descended
upon by a flock of pedants.  ;-)
