I think with his changes, we support modern SMP machines just fine
and we support the junkpile CD-ROMs just fine, but we don't support
junkpile CD-ROMs *on* modern SMP machines all that well.  That sounds
fair enough, given that you can't even plug those CD-ROM drives into
most new machines in the first place.
