Seeing this (and other large type ports) go to a community based group
is not a bad idea.  I do, however, strongly feel that this is a
judgement call that the maintainer should make at a time when they feel
overwhelmed by the workload.

That said, I know that Chris is a receptive candidate, and will gladly
entertain all patches and PRs that are given to him.
