hum, you might be right, is see quite a few refs. to -alipine, like:
add_pkg libiconv-1.13.1_1.tbz gettext-0.18.1.1.tbz aspell-0.60.6_3.tbz pico-alpine-2.00_1.tbz
adding dependencies
pkg_add libiconv-1.13.1_1.tbz
skipping libiconv-1.13.1_1, already added
