No worries, I have no expectation that people can (or should)
instantly respond to my rc.d niggling. :)  I was serious about the
offer of help though.

BTW, in thinking about this some more I think that the
command_interpreter issue is probably the key in rewriting the script.
Without that I can see why someone might have found it necessary to
duplicate so much rc.subr functionality.
