It isn't a requirement anymore that ports build on 4.x but I for one hate 
BROKEN lines in my ports, so I try to keep them building on 4.x if possible 
and as there are still some people out there that are using 4.x as a desktop 
system I'm sure it's appreciated. As most of my ports are KDE related ones, I 
can't just use gcc 3.x but as most ports only require trivial patches this is 
ok.
