I can see what is wrong. If I ls -al perl and pod2man, I see

ruby# ll /usr/bin/perl
lrwxr-xr-x  1 root  wheel  19 Feb  6 10:01 /usr/bin/perl 
-> /usr/local/bin/perl
ruby# ll /usr/bin/pod2man
-r-xr-xr-x  1 root  wheel  29017 Feb  1 23:02 /usr/bin/pod2man

Pod2man is not linked to /usr/local/bin/pod2man.

The use.perl port didn't create the proper link.
