You can do something like

OPTIONS=   PYFOO "Optional snakes" off

.include <bsd.port.options.mk>

.if WITH_PYFOO
USE_PYTHON=  yes
.endif

.include <bsd.port.pre.mk>

[..]

.include <bsd.port.post.mk>
