Here are a few brief notes, more like a brain dump. I'll keep them brief.
Hoping I didn't miss anything. Had to merge my working copy into my CVS
copy.
It'll be a very busy week for me so if I don't respond, give me some time.
Just need to put together an UPDATING entry because 1.8.1 doesn't support
the KRB4 protocol any more. It broke Kerberos authentication within sudo.
I'm sure there's a workaround. I just haven't discovered it yet as my
FreeBSD time has usually been noon hours. Given that this is a busy week I
will not have any FreeBSD time this week.
MIT finally delivered on their promise four to five years ago to remove the
Kerberos applications from the distribution. They have however created a
krb5-appl tarball, which is now a new port.
Keeping the old krb5 1.6.3 and 1.7 ports was no longer viable as they
wouldn't compile with the new OpenSSL 1.0.0.
A todo in the future is to split the krb5 port into libraries, possibly
base software (such as kinit), and KDC. As the build/install doesn't
support this, this will take some surgery and may not be worth the effort.
If people think it is I can put it on my list of things to do.
