Not true since bsd.port.mk rev. 1.559, I think.

$ make showconfig
===> The following configuration options are available for
gthumb-2.10.10:
     GPHOTO2=On (default) "Support loading photos from digital cameras"
     IPTCDATA=Off (default) "Support for IPTC metadata"
     OPENRAW=Off (default) "Support for camera RAW files"
     GTKUNIQUE=Off (default) "Use GtkUnique library"
$ make -V WITHOUT_OPENRAW BATCH=1
true

I suppose the real problem was on sparc64 arch, where OPTIONS are not
getting set at all.
