Yes, yes it would.

My original post arose after being told that a forced commit after a 
repo-copy was standard procedure.  Nothing else.

However, the problem of determining whether or not a repo-copy has 
occurred is rather difficult to solve in a 100% satisfactory 
solution.

I've thought about it a lot, but I'm happy to have further 
suggestions, offline.
