I think I pointed out many times that this latter
definition should be done with :=, or else bdeps
will end up gulping whatever rdeps gets throughout
the rest of the port and infrastructure.

I assume the pear dirs were dirrmtried with expectation
of other (newer) pear ports installing in the same
location. But why examplesdir? It's completely port-
specific.
