FYI, I know that some of these commits (specifically this one) have not baked 
in HEAD for the usual minimum time (3 days).  I am only MFC'ing it earlier so 
that it can be in this weekend's RC.  Ken specifically requested that I MFC 
the nve(4) fix early for this purpose.
